Yarn Harlot: The Secret Life of a Knitter by Stephanie Pearl McPhee.

I knew I would love this book.  I had no idea how much I would love this book until I got to "The Cardigan Letter".  That’s when I got a little obsessive.  I knew going in that the author was a more experienced knitter than I, and that she was a witty, entertaining writer.  I didn’t know she would make me shake with silent laughter while I was trying to let my husband sleep, or that she would make me bawl (also while I was trying to let my poor husband sleep).  All of the stories are good, a few are heartbreaking.  I think I actually like those best, because I really do see handcrafts as deeply healing.  Read the book.  I shouldn’t have to convince any of you who knit, certainly.  And the rest of you should just take my word for it.  You won’t be disappointed.

Yay! I knew that bag was perfect for you when I saw it–because of the colors. Serendipitous that you had a birthday coming up when I happened to wander through Uncommon Threads (the store in Gburg from whence it came. No, unfortunately for you yarnophiles, not a knitting store as I originally thought it might be; just a store full of jewelry, clothes, and bags).

Oops, obviously I meant to post that comment to the previous (next?) entry. The one with the bag. Duh.
