Scath
Posted by Lanea on Saturday, March 4th, 2006
The Shadowy One has left us.
When I got home from work last night, Scath was having serious difficulty breathing. Between gasps, he meowed at me. I’m pretty sure he was asking me to help him on his way. We will miss him terribly.
I hate cancer.
Edit: Thank you all for being so kind. I know a lot of people think cats in particular and pets in general aren’t all that important . I love knowing that I’m surrounded by folks who know better. We’re going to start looking into adopting a pair of kittens sometime in the next month or two. I know we won’t find another Scath, but we’ll certainly find wonderful cats who deserve safe, loving homes.
In the meantime, I’m going to sponsor some cats at a local shelter. Scath and his littermate were strays rescued by the Humane Society. Our dog Kayo was abused by his first owners and rescued by Friends of Homeless Animals, one of our local no-kill shelters. I know lots of you support animal rescue organizations. Thank you for that. Please keep it up–pets do us so much good, and we owe it to them to correct the wrongs done to them by others.

I’m so sorry to hear this. Scath was a special cat and I’m glad he had such special people to take care of him.
You did the right thing. I’m so sorry for your loss. He was a beautiful little kitty.
Such a hard decision to make even when we know it is the right one. My thoughts are with you.
The picture you posted is beautiful – is it one of the ones your Dad did around Christmas? I found after we had to put our old pal down years ago that having a really good picture was a help.

Happy hunting, Little One. I will give my Annabelle an extra squeeze tonight.
Oh, Amy. I’m so sorry. How lucky he was that you were his for his whole life. Hugs and love to you, hon.
I’m sorry about the loss of your friend.
I’m so sorry, Amy. Scath was a beautiful boy.
He is such a magnificent being. My heart goes out to you for your loss.
May Scath fly free across the sky.
I’m sorry Lanea. I hope you meet again some day, beyond the pain, and never to be separated again.
i’m sorry, amy. here’s to happy hunting for scath, and the hopes you’ll meet in the next life
I am really sorry for the loss of your friend. He looked to have been a beautiful kitty. I like to think of them all young and healthy and free. Running wild and telling tales of their mad human lifemates.

oh my, this is my first visit to your blog, and I am met with your terrible loss…I wish I could read to you Cat Heaven by Cyntiah Rylant–try to find yourself a copy.
peace.
I’m so sorry… it’s such a hard thing to take. I had a gorgeous black kitty who died a couple of years ago and now lives in a litle box on my dresser. He was 13 and I was crushed; I can’t imagine someone not understanding the relationship you can have with an animal with whom you live. Agree with you 100% on supporting animal causes, too.
Think of the limitless attacking he gets to do now, though!
